Here is Brenda’s speech present the Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Award to a Highlands student.
“I’m honored to be here to present the Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Award to a deserving Highlands Middle School student.
As you know, Kelli was a Highlands graduate, and she spent much of her time working hard, giving back and having a great time with her friends. This was a good place for her.
This is a good place, yes, but it’s also a place for DOING GOOD.
Like Kelli, this recipient is a hard worker, conscientious student and generous with her time and talents in spreading JOY. She has been described as “a person who often thinks of others before thinking of herself. She is willing to help anyone who needs it. Much like Kelli, she is friends with everyone and she’s a person who works hard to include others in activities, projects and outside of school events.”
She is well respected by students, staff and the administration here at Highlands and in getting to know her a little better, we offer her our respect too.
In that spirit, we’d like to honor a student who embodies Kelli’s legacy of being good and doing good. Congratulations!! We wish you all the best in spreading JOY as you go forward into the future.
We are pleased to present this award to Riley Dominiak.
