Introducing Our Newest Scholarship Recipient – Maeve McDougal!
We are thrilled to announce the latest recipient of the prestigious Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Scholarship – Maeve McDougal! Maeve’s outstanding achievements, dedication, and compassion have made her the deserving recipient of this esteemed scholarship. Please join us in celebrating her accomplishments!
Maeve attended Lyons Township High School, and we are proud to support her educational journey with a scholarship valued at $3,250 annually, renewable for four years. Maintaining a B average in college is a requirement for all recipients, ensuring their commitment to academic excellence.
During her high school years, Maeve excelled both on and off the golf course. She began her high school career as a member of the varsity golf team and continued to showcase her skills throughout all four years. Next year, she will continue her passion for golf at Winona State University.
But Maeve’s achievements don’t stop there. She also dedicated herself to basketball, playing for four years and earning a spot on the varsity team during her final two years. Her commitment and sportsmanship are truly commendable.
In her essay on compassion and caring, Maeve shared a heartfelt story about a boy who joined her school in 7th grade and faced challenges adjusting. Her compassion and kindness towards him demonstrated the power of empathy and understanding. Maeve’s own experiences have taught her that even the smallest acts of care and compassion can make a significant difference in someone’s life.
Maeve’s teachers and mentors have recognized her exceptional qualities. In a recommendation from her constitution law teacher, it was noted that Maeve’s critical thinking skills, coupled with her passion for justice and compassion for others, were always at the forefront of her analyses.
